Cold, Empty, and Clean Is the Whole Assignment
Give the smoker its last cook at least two days before the move. A rig that feels cool outside can hide smoldering pellets or warm ash inside, and neither belongs in a packed truck. Then empty everything: ash from the firebox, pellets from the hopper, water from the pan, grease from the trap. Plug the grease drain with a rag, and degrease the interior enough that nothing drips. Grease finds upholstery in a moving truck the way smoke finds your eyes at the pit. So a clean rig protects everything loaded near it.
Offsets Are a Team Lift, Not a Tip-and-Roll
